Trẻ em và thanh thiếu niên ít có khả năng nhiễm COVID-19 so với người lớn
Có lẽ bạn đã nghe nói rằng người già dễ bị nhiễm COVID-19. Điều đó có nghĩa là họ có nhiều khả năng gặp các biến chứng đe dọa tính mạng. Tuy nhiên, một nghiên cứu mới do UCL dẫn đầu đã phát hiện ra rằng trẻ em và những người trẻ tuổi thực sự ít có khả năng mắc bệnh này hơn 50%. Đây là thông tin rất quan trọng vì thế giới đang cố gắng trở lại cuộc sống bình thường.

Các nhà khoa học đã xem qua 632 nghiên cứu quốc tế và thực hiện một nghiên cứu phân tích tổng hợp. Họ muốn xem khả năng trẻ em nhiễm virut SARS-CoV-2, nguyên nhân gây bệnh COVID-19. Họ cũng muốn biết liệu họ có truyền bệnh này cho người khác hay không. Đây là tất cả các câu hỏi quan trọng khi các chính phủ trên khắp thế giới đang cố gắng tìm ra thời điểm tốt nhất để mở trường học một lần nữa. Các nhà khoa học đang nghiên cứu, nhưng đây là đánh giá có hệ thống đầu tiên để cố gắng trả lời những câu hỏi này.

Tiến sĩ Rosalind Eggo, đồng tác giả của nghiên cứu cho biết: Những bằng chứng đã được kết hợp với nhau một cách có hệ thống để hiểu rõ hơn về nhiễm SARS-CoV-2 ở trẻ em. Nghiên cứu cho thấy rằng trẻ em và thanh thiếu niên có nguy cơ nhiễm trùng thấp hơn so với người lớn.

Các nhà nghiên cứu phát hiện ra rằng trẻ em và thanh thiếu niên dường như giảm 56% khả năng nhiễm COVID-19 từ những người khác bị nhiễm bệnh. Điều này có nghĩa là họ ít mắc bệnh này hơn đáng kể, ngay cả khi ở gần một người mang virus này. Các nhà khoa học đã không có đủ dữ liệu để nói liệu trẻ em (dưới 12 tuổi) có dễ bị tổn thương hơn so với thanh thiếu niên hay không. Tuy nhiên, dường như những người dưới 20 tuổi ít có khả năng nhiễm virut này so với những người trên 20. Các nhà khoa học cũng không thể trả lời câu hỏi nếu những người trẻ tuổi ít có khả năng truyền virut này cho người khác. Điều này rất quan trọng về mặt học tập và các sự kiện công cộng.

Các nhà khoa học cho rằng trẻ em thuộc nhóm nguy cơ thấp và do đó, không đóng vai trò quan trọng trong việc lan truyền đại dịch này. Chúng có thể bị bệnh và có thể gặp các biến chứng, nhưng chúng ít có khả năng nhiễm virus này. Các nhà khoa học hiện có thể sử dụng thông tin này để mô hình hóa các tác động của việc mở lại trường học. Thế giới sẽ phải trở lại bình thường. Và vì bố mẹ sẽ phải đi làm, con cái sẽ phải đi học lại. Nghiên cứu này cung cấp hy vọng rằng nó có thể được thực hiện một cách an toàn.
