National Quality Award: Elevating Vietnamese enterprises
In order to improve the quality level of products, goods and services, which is one of the main foundations in enhancing their competitiveness, economic policy makers of countries are aiming for measures to improve their competitiveness leverage through standardization, measurement and quality management.

The birth of the ISO 9000 series of standards has created a turning point in standardization and quality management activities in the world thanks to the widespread and rapid response of many countries around the world to this set of standards. In addition to the quality management system according to ISO 9000, many other management systems, tools and management models have been formed and widely applied in recent years in many countries, such as: ISO 14000, HACCP , GMP, ISO 22000, Total Quality Management (TQM), 5S, Kaizen, 7 statistical tools, Six sigma and quality awards.

The award for quality and excellence in production and business activities of the evaluated and selected enterprises is the recognition and important factor of the perfecting strategies, improving productivity and competitiveness at both economic levels: micro and macro.

Around the world currently about 83 countries (Europe: 34; Asia: 27; Americas: 15; Africa: 4; Oceania: 3) have awards for quality and excellence established by government and a number of regional and international quality organizations.

National, regional and international quality awards are usually quality awards given to organizations and businesses with the aim of improving the quality of management and organization of production and business activities and services of enterprises in order to systematize and structure the management system to improve competitiveness and productivity. The broad recognition that the Quality Awards bring to award-winning businesses is the "added value" they have for continuing to improve their operations.

Many quality awards were established early in the 1980s and 1990s such as: Malcolm Baldrige Quality Award - National Quality Award of America, Australia Award for Excellence, Quality Award Japan (JQA), Singapore Quality Award for Excellence (SQA), European Quality Award and etc. Being typical examples of exemplary successful models of building and operating quality management systems, oriented customers and the best practice application.
