Smart health - the "gold mine" of technology startups
Digital health is no longer a new concept, but it has always been evaluated as a field with strong growth potential. The application of information technology in healthcare is still a "gold mine" that needs to be exploited, startups in this field have many opportunities to research, develop and provide many smart solutions to the market.

Mr. Nguyen Tran Dong - one of the experts of the Village shared his desire to support and advise startups

“Towards a healthy community during the pandemic with an always-on, always-connected healthcare revolution” is the message that the Health Technology Village and Innovative Healthcare Solutions 2021 is aiming for.

As one of 16 technology villages within the framework of the annual national innovation startup competition - TECHFEST VIETNAM - organized by the Ministry of Science and Technology, the Health Technology and Innovative Solutions Village takes care of health has received special attention, appearing with a new role to respond to the trend of safe and effective healthcare during the Covid-19 pandemic associated with sustainable development.

It can be said that Covid-19 has created a big "kick" affecting all aspects of social life, all fields must find a way to switch from face-to-face working to remote online. In which, health and healthcare is the most difficult area to transform because it directly affects the lives of patients, along with the cost and complexity of implementing digital health systems, barriers by the inherent habits of medical staffs, patients and difficulties in investment exposure. However, over the past year, many organizations, businesses, and individuals in society have always actively researched, applied and innovated technologies, creating quality products of great value, and making positive contributions to technologies in healthcare during the Covid-19 pandemic. Some solutions, such as application to find doctors, online medical examination, online payment, telemedicine... bring practical benefits to patients, doctors and hospitals.

Not only in Vietnam, the medical technology market is booming globally, the market size will grow at a rapid rate. In the third quarter of 2020, there was a capital of up to 7 billion USD for innovative start-ups in the health sector. However, the number of startups in the field of health technology accounts for less than 2% of the total 4,000 startups in Asia (According to data at the National Healthcare Digital Transformation Conference 2020). There is still a lot of economic space, Vietnam's large gold mines need to be exploited with technologies and innovation.

The series of activities in the TECHFEST 2021 program will be a great opportunity for creative startups to "struggle". The most prominent and expected activity this year is the "Finding Startup Stars" Contest, built on the process of Community Opinion - Expert Opinion - Challenge announcement, the participating teams will selected and registered according to 2 contest tables: Technology (Tech startup) and Innovation business (Innovative business) and presented their solution content in front of a jury of domestic and international experts.

Startups participating in the Health Technology Village and Innovative Healthcare Solutions 2021 will be mentored by a team of good experts with extensive industry experiences, and have the opportunity to interact with more than 50 funds and investors. Large investment is also supported by media, promotion by a network of more than 200 media agencies, participation in online exhibitions, satellite events and many other in-depth support.

Mr. Nguyen Tran Dong - one of the experts of the Village shared: “I look forward to supporting, consulting and sharing for startups/challenging teams with smart healthcare solutions for both audiences: one is a technology solution for medical staffs (Hospitals, clinics); Second is the technology solution to serve the patient. Thence, it is possible to create a community of startups that support each other to bring the best products to customers.”

Health Technology Village and Innovative Healthcare Solutions - TECHFEST 2021 with the enthusiastic support of organizations will be an extension of Vietnamese startups, creating unique opportunities for talent innovation startups to exploit mine gold in the field of health technology, move towards a zero-distance digital society with quality and effective products and solutions.
