Vietnam - Korea Institute of Science and Technology signed a Memorandum of Understanding to cooperate in promoting scientific and technological research activities
On September 30, 2021, Minister of Science and Technology Huynh Thanh Dat and Korean Ambassador to Vietnam Park Noh Wan visited the headquarters of the Vietnam - Korea Institute of Science and Technology (VKIST) at Hoa Lac Hi-Tech Park. On the occasion of the visit, the Minister and the Ambassador attended a series of events including "The Signing Ceremony of Memorandum of Understanding to cooperate in promoting scientific and technological research activities", "The ceremony to attach the name plate of the Vietnam - Korea Institute of Science and Technology" and visit the laboratories of the Institute.

Since officially put into operation, VKIST has always focused on expanding and strengthening research cooperation with institutes, universities and enterprises in a number of key research fields, in line with current development orientations of the Parties. With the witness of Minister Huynh Thanh Dat, Korean Ambassador Park Noh Wan, Deputy Minister Bui The Duy, Deputy Director of KOICA Vietnam Seo Mi Young, Head of Hoa Lac Hi-Tech Park Management Board Luu Hoang Long and all Members of the Institute Council and leaders of functional units under the Ministry of Science and Technology, VKIST Institute signed a Memorandum of Understanding with CVI Cosmetics Pharmaceutical Joint Stock Company (CVI Pharma), Nam Duoc Joint Stock Company (CVI Pharma), and Nam Duoc Joint Stock Company and the Institute of Automation and Control Engineering - Hanoi University of Science and Technology to promote research and development activities in the fields of biotechnology and electronics.

The signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between VKIST and businesses shows the desire and commitment to cooperate in research and development, capacity building training, and sharing facilities/research equipment, and etc. Thereby, contributing to improving the capacity of research and development of products according to the needs of the market.

Speaking at the Signing Ceremony, Mr. Pak Noh Wan- Korean Ambassador to Vietnam congratulated VKIST for initially implementing research and cooperation activities with many enterprises, institutes/schools. Ambassador Pak Noh Wan expressed that the establishment of VKIST Institute is a symbol of the strong relationship of science and technology cooperation between the two Governments of Vietnam and the Government of Korea. The Ambassador believes that in the near future, VKIST will achieve significant research achievements, becoming a "technology solution provider for market winners."

Speaking at the Signing Ceremony, Minister Huynh Thanh Dat thanked the Ambassador for taking the time to visit VKIST, and at the same time thanked the Korean Government for supporting Vietnam in the process of establishing and building VKIST Institute. The Minister affirmed that the initial success of VKIST is a proof that the decision to invest in building the VKIST Institute according to the model of the KIST Institute of the two Governments is absolutely right.
