Patent protection subjects are supported 30 million VND/application
For applications for patent protection and registration for protection and recognition of new plant varieties, the support level is 30 million VND/application; for registration applications for protection of industrial designs and trademarks 15 million VND/protection title.

In the Circular No. 75/2021/TT-BTC on regulating the financial management of the implementation of the Intellectual Property Development Program to 2030, which has just been issued, clearly states the level of state budget support in registration of protection of inventions, industrial designs and trademarks; registration for protection and recognition of new plant varieties.

Accordingly, in case of domestic protection registration: For patent protection applications and registration for protection and recognition of new plant varieties, the support level is 30 million VND/application; for registration applications for protection of industrial designs and trademarks, 15 million VND/protection title.

In case of overseas protection registration for the specified objects, the support level is 60 million VND/application is accepted as valid, the corresponding documents are according to the regulations of the international organization or the applicant country.

Regarding the task of improving the efficiency of management, exploitation and development of intellectual property, the supporting contents include: Building and implementing a management system for geographical indications, certification trademarks, and collective trademarks and products under the OCOP Program (One Commune One Product Program) associated with the registration of growing area codes, food safety, quality certification and authentication and traceability of protected products; manage and use national geographical indication symbols, support the use of national geographical indication symbols in the country and in the foreign countries.

Regarding the above issue, according to statistics from the National Office of Intellectual Property of Vietnam, in 2020, although in the context of the Covid-19 pandemic, the number of applications for patents and utility solutions by foreign subjects decreased 2%, the number of patent applications and utility solutions of Vietnamese subjects still increased by 35% compared to 2019. During the past 10 years, the number of applications for invention / utility solutions of Vietnamese people have grown significantly, if in 2011 there were only a few hundred applications filed per year, by 2020, this number has tripled.
