On October 16, 2021, the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union and the Global Network of Young Vietnamese Intellectuals jointly organized the online workshop "Intellectual Property and Digital Transformation Technologies - Opportunities for Vietnam."

Speakers and conference participants

The workshop was organized to further clarify the role and value of intellectual property and digital transformation technologies in the current context. At the same time, propose some solutions to make good use of well-trained young intellectual resources at home and abroad to help Vietnam catch up with digital transformation technology trends in the world, especially the use of intellectual property rights as a strategic tool to unlock national digital transformation research and application capacity.

The workshop attracted the attention and participation of experts, businesses, and managers, especially the impulsive role of young Vietnamese intellectuals at home and abroad.

At the workshop, speakers from domestic and foreign organizations focused on exchanging and sharing useful information on many topics: Dr. Trang Nguyen – CEO of HUEPRESS JSC, Research Fellow at LiFi Research Institute, UK with the presentation “Digital transformation technology trends in the world today”; "Solutions to promote young Vietnamese intellectuals in the national digital transformation" by Dr. Dinh Ngoc Thanh, Associate Professor, Soongsil University, Korea exchange; “Digital Transformation Technology Trends in the Vietnamese Context” by Dr. Trong Hai, Founder, CEO of Hspace; “Effective protection and exploitation of intellectual property rights in research and application of digital transformation - What opportunities for Vietnam?” of Dr. David Ngo – Chairman of IPGROUP Joint Stock Company; "Intellectual Property Management Strategy - The key to unlocking research capacity and applying digital transformation at universities, institutes and enterprises" shared by Dr. Tran Le Hong - Deputy Director of the National Office of Intellectual Property.

According to the speakers, digital transformation and the knowledge economy - an intangible asset, is knowledge and is considered as a special commodity. Intellectual property needs to be put into practical application as an effective tool to promote and be the key to unlocking innovation activities in general and innovation activities associated with trade and business on digital platforms in particular.

In addition to analyzing the current situation, trends and difficulties and challenges of intellectual property exploitation and digital transformation activities, the speakers and delegates spent a lot of time discussing solutions for exploitation of intellectual property, manage intellectual property activities, digital transformation, solutions to promote the strength of young Vietnamese intellectuals in the national digital transformation, how to invest in technologies to catch up with the world.

Accordingly, in the current context, institutes, universities and enterprises need to effectively manage intellectual property activities for sustainable development, and take initiative in intellectual property rights for successful digital transformation. Intellectual property strategy with other strategies of institutes, universities and enterprises has an intimate and inseparable relationship, because this activity aims to develop added value and ensure profits through creation, protection and use of intellectual property. Intellectual property rights as a tool to build a business, not just the creation of intellectual property rights as the end goal of the business. Digital technologies are created based on intellectual property rights, which are protected, exploited and effectively protected for the supply of goods and services.

With technology investment, experts say that it should be deployed early, taking a shortcut, before the technology is clear. The state needs a "revolution" in policies, and start-ups need to create a "revolution" in technology.

Young delegates at home and abroad participate in the 4th Global Forum of Vietnamese Young Intellectuals to jointly contribute their ideas, youth and wisdom to the aspiration of building a powerful country based on science and technology and innovation, digital transformation can be registered at the link: trithuctrevietnam.vn.
