Many scientific research projects contribute to the development of social sciences and humanities
90% of the projects under the Program "Research on important issues in the social sciences and humanities for socio-economic development" have results that provide explanations for the improvement of theoretical awareness and practice, contributing to the development of social sciences and humanities.

The Executive Board of the Program "Research on key issues in the social sciences and humanities for socio-economic development" has just held a conference to evaluate and summarize this program. The conference is connected online with bridge points in Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Can Tho, Da Nang, Central Highlands and Thai Nguyen.

The program is built with the following objectives: To provide scientific evidences on key issues in the field of social sciences and humanities in order to meet the requirements of the period of industrialization, modernization and international economic integration; Proposing policies and solutions to improve the efficiency of organization, management and socio-economic development for the purpose of sustainable development in Vietnam; Building a database on social sciences and humanities to serve the planning and implementation of policies for the purpose of socio-economic development in Vietnam. This is a Program that integrates 4 pillars of research in the fields of humanities and social sciences in terms of economy, society, culture and people.

In the period of 2016-2020, the Ministry of Science and Technology has approved the implementation of 7 key S&T programs directly managed by the Ministry, of which the Program "Research on key issues in the social sciences and humanities for socio-economics development” is the only humanities and social science program.

Prof. Dr. Tran Tho Dat, Rector of National Economics University, Program chief, said that over the past 5 years of implementation, 52 projects of the Program have achieved many remarkable results. Of which, 40% of the projects have direct contributions, providing scientific arguments for the formulation of guidelines and policies of the Party and State; 80% of the projects have results including recommendations, solutions, models and scientific products that contribute to solving practical problems, innovating and perfecting management mechanisms and policies in ministries and sectors, localities.

90% of the projects have results providing explanations for the improvement of theoretical and practical awareness, contributing to the development of social sciences and humanities. Nearly 400 domestic and international articles from the research results of the projects have been published in domestic and international journals. 100% of the projects have met the targets for postgraduate training and participated in master's training and doctorate; in which, participated in training 95 doctors and 144 masters.

According to Prof. Dr. Tran Tho Dat, Program has closely followed 4 research contents, provided scientific arguments on key issues in the field of social sciences and humanities; propose policies and solutions to improve organizational and management efficiency, and at the same time build a database to serve the planning and implementation of policies for the purpose of socio-economic development in Vietnam.

100% of the projects under the program create specific scientific products, including maps, models of agricultural tourism product chains in the Mekong Delta as documents for tourism management agencies in the locality.

All research results in the program are transferred to central departments, ministries and branches for management and policy making. Some results are transferred to businesses and localities for practical application.

Deputy Minister of Science and Technology Tran Van Tung assessed that, after 5 years of implementation, the program has completed the set objectives. Many projects have new research results; a number of projects have timely provided research results for the drafting of documents of the 13th Party Congress as well as the formulation and completion of policies, laws, and development strategies of the ministry, industry and locality.
