Vietnam's sustainable development ranking index increased by 5 places
Vietnam's sustainable development index has increased 5 places, ranking 49 out of 166 countries, in which there are sustainable goals, such as hunger eradication, poverty, quality education and climate protection still have to make a lot of effort because there are goals that pose many challenges, which are difficult to achieve.

The targets of hunger and poverty eradication are well and sustainably implemented by Vietnam

After 5 years of implementing the goals, Vietnam's ranking on the results of the implementation of the Sustainable Development Rankings (SDGs) has continuously increased on a global scale for the period of 2016 - 2020. In which, in 2020, Vietnam is ranked 49th out of 166 countries on the SDGs index, up 5 places compared to the 2019 ranking.

The data were presented at the Conference to announce the 2020 National Report: “5-year progress towards the implementation of the sustainable development goals” (National SDGs Report 2020) organized by the Ministry of Planning and Investment on October 21.

The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) include: Goal 1 on poverty eradication; target 2 on hunger eradication; objective 4 on quality education; target 13 on climate protection actions; Goal 17 on global partnerships. According to Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh Nga - Head of the report development team, Vietnam is likely to achieve 5/17 SDGs by 2030.

In order to maintain the achieved results, in the coming time, Vietnam needs to make efforts, turn challenges into actions and opportunities, and continue to mobilize the participation of stakeholders in a more active and effective way to achieve the SDGs by 2030.

Despite the encouraging achievements, Vietnam still faces many difficulties and challenges in maintaining the achieved achievements and towards the completion of the SDGs by 2030.

According to the report, up to 10 SDGs will face difficulties and challenges to complete (including: Goal 3 on good health and happy life; Goal 5 on gender equality; Goal 6 on clean water; and sanitation; target 7 on clean and affordable energy; target 8 on economic growth and decent jobs; target 9 on industry, innovation and infrastructure; target 10 on poverty reduction equality; goal 11 on sustainable cities and communities; goal 15 on protection and sustainable development of forests, conservation of biodiversity; goal 16 on peace, justice and strong institutions).

There are 2 goals that will be difficult to achieve by 2030 (including target 12 on sustainable production and consumption; target 14 on conservation and sustainable use of oceans, seas and marine resources).

Out of 115 specific goals, 54 specific goals will be completed (accounting for nearly 47%), but 48 specific goals (accounting for 41.7%) will face difficulties and challenges ahead and 13 goals specific targets (accounting for 11.3%) are difficult to achieve by 2030.
