Can Tho City: Promulgating the Intellectual Property Development Program to 2030
On November 1, Can Tho City People's Committee issued Decision No. 3032/QD-UBND on approving the intellectual property development program to 2030.

Accordingly, the construction and implementation of the Intellectual Property Development Program aims to: Turn intellectual property into an important tool to improve competitiveness, create an environment to encourage innovation and promote innovation and promote local economic, cultural and social development; Raise awareness of businesses, entrepreneurs, institutes, schools, organizations and individuals about intellectual property; Promote and improve the efficiency of protection, exploitation, protection and development of intellectual property of enterprises, organizations and individuals in the city.

With the following specific goals:

- By 2025: Training and coaching on intellectual property for over 3,000 participants; 100% of universities and research institutes in the city are propagated, raised awareness and supported to protect intellectual property rights for scientific research results and innovation; at least 40% of key products, services, specific products associated with the city's OCOP Program are supported with registration for protection, management and development of intellectual property, control of origin and quality after being protected);

- By 2030: Provide training on intellectual property for about 6,000 attendees; the number of applications and patents for protection of inventions and utility solutions increased by 10%/year on average, trademarks increased by 10%/year on average; the number of applications for plant variety protection increased by an average of 5% per year; at least 60% of key and specific products and services and products associated with the city's OCOP Program are supported with registration for protection, management and development of intellectual property, control of origin and quality after being protected; there are more than 5,500 intellectual property diplomas granted, an increase of 35% compared to 2020).

In order to effectively implement this Program, the Can Tho City People's Committee has set out the key tasks and solutions, as follows:

- Enhance activities to create intellectual property, improve the quality of human resources on innovation and intellectual property;

- Promote the registration of intellectual property protection in the domestic and foreign countries;

- Improve the efficiency of management, exploitation and development of intellectual property;

- Promote and strengthen the effective enforcement and prevention of intellectual property rights infringement;

- Developing and improving the capacity of intermediary organizations and intellectual property rights holders; forming and creating a culture of intellectual property in society;

- Forming and creating a culture of intellectual property in society.

The Department of Science and Technology is assigned the task of presiding over and coordinating with other departments, city departments, district People's Committees, institutes, schools, information and communication agencies and related organizations and individuals to effectively implement of this Program.
