Traceability – A solution to promote agricultural product consumption on a digital platform
According to Deputy Minister of Science and Technology Le Xuan Dinh, traceability is a solution to promote the consumption of farmers’ agricultural products by digital platforms, integrating value, creating convenience for farmers, cooperatives, consumers.

The Youth Union of the Ministry of Science and Technology, in collaboration with the Youth Union of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development and the Youth Union of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, jointly organized a Workshop "Traceability, application of digital platforms in support connecting and consuming Vietnamese agricultural products.”

Attending the Workshop, there were Deputy Minister of Science and Technology Le Xuan Dinh; Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Sinh Nhat Tan; Mr. Nguyen Hoang Linh - Deputy Director of the Directoate of Standards, Metrology and Quality, Mr. Nguyen Van Truong - Standing Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, together with representatives of specialized units of 3 Ministries, Youth Unions of Provinces and Cities.

Speaking at the opening of the Workshop, Deputy Minister of Science and Technology Le Xuan Dinh said that in the 4.0 economy, information on products and goods from production, distribution to consumption is tracked down to every small step, reflecting the represent objective factors. This source of information can be used for many things including optimization of production, distribution, forecasting, compliance with import and export regulations, etc. In other words, it is traceability and activities contribute to creating the foundation for the production and circulation of goods in the 4.0 economy.

In the field of agriculture, the application of a digital platform is identified as one of the breakthroughs, creating a premise for the implementation of the industrial revolution 4.0 in agriculture, promoting the connection of agricultural product consumption, towards export standards, meeting the requirements of agricultural restructuring and international economic integration.

According to Deputy Minister Le Xuan Dinh, currently, we are facing huge challenges from the Industrial Revolution 4.0 and the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. Digital transformation in production and business has been identified by the Party, Government, and Prime Minister as an inevitable solution and trend for production and business units to improve their capacity, competitive advantage, and recover after pandemic and development.

Speaking at the workshop, Mr. Le Nhat Thanh - Director of Post-Import Plant Inspection Center - Plant Protection Department, Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development shared about the role of traceability in improving the value of Vietnamese agricultural products, in order to meet the mandatory compliance conditions in the agreement signed between the two national plant protection agencies on the working program/protocol to export fresh fruits from Vietnam to the respective importing countries.

Traceability of products and manage pests subject to plant quarantine of importing countries according to import requirements of countries. Controlling the use of banned pesticides and pesticide residues on exported agricultural products.

Also according to Mr. Thanh, improving the prestige of Vietnamese agricultural products in high-value markets to facilitate negotiations to open agricultural shops in other markets. Thereby, other agencies organize trade promotion and promote Vietnam's agricultural products smoothly.

Within the framework of the Workshop, the speakers had presentations related to traceability and digital applications to support circulation and consumption of Vietnamese products, traceability applications, digital value chains, opportunities to promote the export of agricultural and food products to the Chinese market and etc.

The workshop "Traceability - Applying digital platforms in supporting the connection and consumption of Vietnamese agricultural products" was organized by the Youth Union 3 of the Ministry of Science and Technology - Agriculture and Rural Development - Industry and Trade with the companion of the National Code Center; Techfest 247 virtual reality exhibition platform; Freshdi brand…and the participation of units from 3 ministries, press agencies and media are meaningful events in the context that Vietnamese agricultural products are gradually asserting their value in the domestic and export markets.”
