Workshop on building and piloting a set of local-level innovation index
In the afternoon of May 10, 2022, Can Tho City Department of Science and Technology attended an online workshop to give suggestions on building a pilot set of local innovation indexes organized by the Academy of Science, Technology, Technology and Innovation under the Ministry of Science and Technology.

Attending the workshop, there were leaders of the Ministry of Science and Technology, representatives of leaders of ministries and branches and 63 bridge points of the Department of Science and Technology of provinces and cities in the whole country.

The objective of the meeting was to select and guide a number of localities to register to participate in the pilot assessment of the Innovation Index at the local level; Coordinate with relevant units to develop a draft of a project on building a local innovation index, contributing to improving competitiveness, promoting sustainable development, and accelerating economic growth.

The workshop revolved around the contents of the Summary of the project on building a set of local-level Innovation Indicators; Draft explanation of indicators belonging to the local innovation index set. In addition, delegates focused on contributing ideas on the Index (the framework of the index, the pillars, the component indicators); In terms of data sources, methods and timing of data collection (especially the indicators intended to be collected and provided by the locality); Advantages and disadvantages of the Departments of Science and Technology when participating in the pilot of the Innovation Index in the locality;

Recommendations and solutions when collecting information (data) for testing the Innovation Index in the locality; The ability of the Department of Science and Technology to participate in and support the activities of the project to build the Innovation Index at the local level; The content is expected to be reported and proposed to the working group presided by the leaders of the Ministry to work with local leaders on coordination in the development of a local-level Innovation Index.

At the workshop, Mr. Ngo Anh Tin - Director of Can Tho City Department of Science and Technology commented, “The Department of Science and Technology of Can Tho City agreed to coordinate with the Academy of Science, Technology and Innovation to deploy the Innovation Index in the locality. The Department of Science and Technology of Can Tho City is one of 20 departments selected by the Ministry of Science and Technology as a pilot locality in implementing the innovation index.
