Mechanical processing holds a very important position in industrial production, which is the basis and driving force for other industries to develop. The process of mechanical processing, casting technology accounts for a relatively large proportion, is commonly used to process details of motorcycles, cars, engines, industrial machine parts, and production of consumer goods.

Casting technologies often create products with residual details that need to be handled such as the residual amount of the parting surface (bavia), shrinkage, material guide, etc. The post-casting residual treatment process includes main operations such as hammering, cutting out excess details, grinding burrs, cleaning the surface, etc. In the country, this stage is mainly done manually, the productivity is not high, the quality is not uniform.

Therefore, building an automatic system in the process of handling residues after casting, in order to improve productivity and product quality, is an urgent need. However, at present, there has not been any domestic research done on automating the processing of excess and bavia for cast products. In addition, there is no unit specializing in the production of casting lines and auxiliary equipment for the casting industry, which all have to be imported.

The team of authors at Nhat Tinh Trading Technical Services Limitted Company has implemented the project "Research, design and manufacture a system for processing pouring necks and cleaning 3D profiles of casting details."

The author's research project has been accepted by the Department of Science and Technology of Ho Chi Minh City and the group is ready to provide the above system for units in need.
