Intellectual property is one of the powerful tools in promoting innovation. This is an important asset of enterprises, especially science and technology enterprises and innovative start-ups because it helps to create a monopoly, improve competitiveness for businesses and promote socio-economic development. The topic of World Innovation Day and World Intellectual Property Day 2022 is: "Intellectual Property, Innovation and Young Generations for a Better Future".

The Department of Science and Technology of Can Tho city has coordinated with the National Office of Intellectual Property to organize a workshop on Start-up and innovation based on inventions, technology and intellectual property to celebrate World Intellectual Property Day this year. More than 150 participants attending the workshop were representatives of a number of Departments of Science and Technology in the Mekong Delta, enterprises, cooperatives, production and business establishments, management agencies, associations, unions, institutes, schools and organizations and individuals in the area of ​​Can Tho city. At the workshop, the Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee attended and delivered a directive speech. In addition, the delegates among management agencies and local businesses shared experiences in state management of start-up activities, innovation and development of intellectual property, more closely linked in coordination among localities in order to accelerate the development of science and technology.

To improve legal knowledge for businesses, organizations and individuals; To improve professional capacity for staffs working in the management and protection of rights in the field of intellectual property, the Department of Science and Technology of Can Tho city organized a training session on International commitments on intellectual property rights and enforcement of intellectual property rights in the context of international economic integration with the participation of about 80 delegates who are officials in the management and enforcement of intellectual property rights (Market Manager, Public Security, Inspectors, Customs, Procuracy, Courts), representatives of departments, agencies, mass organizations, People's Committees of districts, a number of Associations and Institutes, Schools, enterprises, related organizations and individuals.

In order to create a ripple effect and strongly influence the awareness of agencies, organizations and communities about innovation activities and intellectual property, the Department of Science and Technology has carried out: hanging banners on the city's routes with the topic "Intellectual Property and the Young Generation: Innovation for a Better Future"; post banners to celebrate World Intellectual Property Day on websites; develop reports on "Intellectual Property and the Young Generation: Innovation for a Better Future" and propagate them on websites; publish the World Intellectual Property Day message, translated from English by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) on the print edition of Can Tho Newspaper; write news and synthesize news around the World Intellectual Property Day message posted on the websites of the Department of Science and Technology (www.sokhcn.cantho.gov.vn), the Science and Technology Information Network and Can Tho Technology (http://casti.vn/), specializing in intellectual property information website (http://sohuutritue.gov.vn/).

In addition, the Department of Science and Technology has gathered more than 80 products, ideas and projects of individuals, groups of individuals, innovative start-ups from Can Tho city and other provinces and cities in the Mekong Delta (Dong Thap, Ca Mau, An Giang, Vinh Long, and etc.), the products displayed at the Startup Store of Can Tho city Science and Technology Information Center attracted about 200 visitors.

Propaganda and activities in response to World Innovation Day and World Intellectual Property Day 2022 are carried out in many practical and effective forms in agencies, organizations and units to express clearly understand the role, meaning and importance of intellectual property and innovation in life and professional work, contributing to serving the city's socio-economic development goals; at the same time, creating a spillover effect, strongly influencing the perception of agencies, organizations and communities; calling on organizations and individuals to jointly promote innovation and intellectual property activities in the city.
