The amount of fake washing powder was seized by the functional forces
Specifically, the inspection team of the Market Management Team No. 4 coordinated with the Economic Crime Investigation Police Team, the position of Vinh Long City Police and the Police of Ward 4, Vinh Long City to inspect washing powder production and trading facility at address 64/7, Pho Co Dieu Street (Ward 4, Vinh Long City, Vinh Long Province) owned by Mr. Tran Hoai Han.
Inspection results have found that this business establishment has signs of extracting and packing fake OMO brand detergent from Surf detergent packages. Both of these brands are owned by Unilever Vietnam International Limitted Company.
Working with the authorities, Mr. Han said he has rented a house at the above address to produce OMO washing powder from February 2022 to present. Specifically, Mr. Han extracted from Surf brand washing powder (5.5 kg) into small packages of OMO brand (400g type), and then used a packaging press to create finished products. The number of packages of OMO brand was purchased by him in Ho Chi Minh City through the recommendation of a friend.
Each package of OMO brand washing powder, Mr. Han sells to the market for 12,000 VND/pack of 400g. Thus, for every 1 package of Surf brand washing powder, through the "magic" hand of Mr. Han, there will be more than 13 packages of OMO washing powder. "I have been packing for 2 days now, before I can sell it to the market. I was detained by the Market Management Team No. 4," said Mr. Han.
At the scene, the authorities obtained the exhibits including: 170 packages of OMO washing powder, 400g/pack; 42 packages of Surf brand washing powder of 5.5kg; 1 Tan Thanh brand packaging press machine; model M5 made in Vietnam; 2,450 units of OMO brand packaging, 488 OMO branded carton boxes of all kinds.
Also at the scene, 33 packages of Surf brand 5.5 kg were cut for the purpose of using for extraction and product packaging.
