Workshop on application of atomic energy in processing and preserving agricultural and aquatic products for export in Can Tho city
In the morning of July 1, 2022, at Ninh Kieu 2 Hotel, Can Tho, the Department of Science and Technology cooperated with the Nuclear Center of Ho Chi Minh City - Vietnam Institute of Atomic Energy, Institute of Basic and Scientific Research - Duy Tan University to organize a workshop on "Application of atomic energy in processing and preserving agricultural and aquatic products for export in CanTho City" in order to strengthen cooperation in the development and application of radiation technology in the agricultural sector of Can Tho city.

Attending the workshop, there were leaders of Can Tho City People's Committee, leaders of Can Tho Department of Science and Technology, and 150 delegates representing departments, branches, institutes, schools, businesses import and export of aquatic products, agricultural products and related radiation facilities in the city; Departments of Science and Technology of the Mekong Delta provinces.

The workshop revolved around the following topics: Overview of some applications of atomic energy in socio-economic development; Application of irradiation technology in fruit quarantine and reduction of harmful microbial contamination in food; Application of radiation to create biological products in clean and sustainable agricultural development; Atomic energy application services in supporting import and export activities of aquatic products, agricultural products, etc. Besides, the workshop also spent time discussing related issues.

The workshop is an opportunity for the city to evaluate and consult proposals and solutions for research and application of radiation technology in sustainable development of high-quality agriculture and processing and export activities of aquatic products, fruits and typical agricultural products of Can Tho city as well as the Southwest region.
