The National Office of Intellectual Property and the Open University of Ho Chi Minh City held a workshop and signed a cooperation agreement to develop intellectual property activities
In the afternoon of July 8, 2022, the National Office of Intellectual Property cooperated with the Open University of Ho Chi Minh City held the Workshop "Solutions to improve the effectiveness of protection and exploitation of intellectual property rights for innovative start-ups" and the signing ceremony of cooperation agreement to promote the development of activities on intellectual property between the two units.

To provide information, knowledge and skills on building, protecting and exploiting intellectual property rights (IP) for innovative startups, contributing to raising awareness for young people about IP , build awareness and responsibility to respect IP rights and gradually form IP culture in the community; On July 8, 2020, in Ho Chi Minh City, the National Office of Intellectual Property cooperated with the Open University of Ho Chi Minh City held the workshop "Solutions to improve the efficiency of protection and exploitation of intellectual property rights for innovative start-ups" and the signing ceremony of cooperation agreement to develop IP activities between two units.

This is an important activity to promote the development of intellectual property (IP) activities, scientific research, innovation and technology transfer in colleges and universities; at the same time marks the period of strengthening understanding and comprehensive cooperation between the NOIP and the university.

Attending and chairing the workshop, there were Dr. Tran Le Hong, Deputy Director of NOIP; Dr. Le Nguyen Quoc Khang, Vice Rector of Ho Chi Minh City Open University; together with nearly 200 delegates who are leaders of state management agencies, innovative start-ups, enterprises, associations, universities, research institutes, media, lecturers, Student at the Open University of Ho Chi Minh City and other interested organizations and individuals.

Speaking at the opening of the conference, Dr. Tran Le Hong, Deputy Director of NOIP, emphasized the important role of IP in the development of science - technology and economy - society. Accordingly, intellectual property has become an effective tool to help businesses, especially start-ups, innovate, improve their competitiveness and create a driving force for economic development of each country.

However, in fact, start-up groups are often only interested in forming businesses, building business models, calling for investment capital, but paying little attention to creating new intellectual properties, protecting and exploiting IP rights; or have protection and exploitation but are not effective; causing many difficulties for creative research activities, application to production and business.

Therefore, the formulation of policies and measures to improve the effectiveness of IPR protection and exploitation, contribute to promoting economic development, improve the capacity and position of enterprises, create products with great value and high competitiveness in domestic and foreign markets are very important.

At the workshop, the delegates provided information, knowledge and skills on building, protecting and exploiting IP rights for innovative start-ups. In parallel with the task of raising awareness for young people about IP, building awareness and responsibility to respect IP rights, gradually forming IP culture in the community.

In which, reporters from the NOIP, schools and innovative start-up enterprises shared many important topics, such as overview and legal regulations on IP rights protection for innovative start-up enterprises (innovative enterprises) and measures to build, protect and exploit intellectual property in innovative enterprises; Current status and experiences in promoting innovative start-up activities based on intellectual property at universities; Current status and experiences of innovative enterprises in the protection and exploitation of intellectual property.
