According to Mr. Do Minh Nhut - Deputy Director of the Department of Science and Technology of Kien Giang province, at present, establishments producing, processing and trading fish sauce are focusing on improving product quality, meeting the criteria of food hygiene and safety. However, in order for consumers to easily identify and trust the quality of Phu Quoc fish sauce products, the provincial Department of Science and Technology has piloted the stamping of traceability for this traditional product.

The successful piloting at two enterprises, Hong Duc 1 Private Enterprise and Huynh Khoa Fish Sauce Trading Limited Company, will contribute to improving the efficiency of state management, ensuring the quality and safety of products, protect the health of consumers.

According to Mr. Nguyen Huynh Anh Khoa, director of Huynh Khoa Limited Company, the traceability stamp helps businesses no longer have to worry about customers' questions about food safety. Consumers can quickly trace the origin with a simple operation on their smartphones, they will fully know about the production process and product origin.

Mr. Khoa shared: "In fact, there are many products of famous enterprises that are counterfeited by bad guys, thereby destroying consumers' trust in products that businesses have lost  a lot of work to build."

The application of stamps to trace the origin of Phu Quoc fish sauce products is not only an economic value, but it is also a way for businesses to join hands to protect the interests of the community, repel counterfeit goods, etc out of the Vietnamese market. At the same time, creating transparency of businesses on product quality, so that Phu Quoc fish sauce brand affirms its brand in domestic and foreign markets.

With this result, the set of guidelines for applying the traceability system for Phu Quoc fish sauce products will contribute to raising the awareness of the society, agencies, organizations and businesses in the city on traceability through promoting popular propaganda activities of relevant units.

According to statistics, up to now, Phu Quoc has about 57 fish sauce processing facilities supplying the market with an output of 25 million liters per year in the country and for export.

The promotion of socialization of traceability activities to serve international integration and improve the efficiency of state management, ensure the quality and safety of products and goods, and protect the health of consumers. Phu Quoc is the unit selected with the first product of the province to develop a traceability manual and so far has successfully piloted it at 2 enterprises, thereby replicating the model applied to other countries businesses, other key products and goods.
