Find out the current situation to solve difficulties in technology transfer from the Institute to businesses
The good thing is that the Institute - the university has formed a habit of actively cooperating with businesses to commercialize research results and transfer technologies.

Mr. Le Thanh Minh (Deputy Director of Ho Chi Minh City Department of Science and Technology) delivered the keynote speech

On August 19, 2022, University of Science and Technology (VNU-HCM) held a workshop on "The current status of mechanisms, policies and solutions to create motivation for commercialization of research results formed from the state budget". The workshop is part of the component project "Piloting policies to create motivation for commercialization, quickly bringing research results and intellectual property generated from the state budget into production and business in the South."

At the workshop, units and organizations presented presentations including: "Practical implementation of commercialization of research results from the state budget at Polytechnic University", "Technology transfer work" and commercialization of scientific research results at the Center for High-Tech Agricultural Research and Development", "Practice of commercializing research products at the Institute of Nanotechnology".

Presentation reports show that the Institute - the university has formed a habit of actively cooperating with businesses to commercialize research results and transfer technology. Typically, University of Technology (HCMC) has performed a total of 5,594 contracts in the period of 2012-2021, the revenue of technology transfer from 2015  so far has exceeded 100 billion VND/year.

In the period of 2010-2021, the Center for Agricultural Research and Development with High Technology (AHRD) has transferred technologies to more than 65 enterprises, organizations, and farmer households in Ho Chi Minh City, provinces and regions. In the South, Central Highlands and the Central Coast and North according to the criteria of "turnkey", "hands-on", and organized more than 110 training classes, short-term training, vocational training with more than 5,200 attendees about effective agricultural production models.

The Institute of Nanotechnology (INT) has cooperated with many localities and businesses, implementing projects applied in agriculture, fisheries, environment, biomedical, nano silver printing ink and etc. to serve the development of the Dong Nai region by the Mekong River, serving the community.

Not only that, the delegates also mentioned a number of limitations in technology transfer activities for businesses. For example, the stage of pricing products and technologies to be transferred does not have a clear mechanism. Or regulations on profit sharing are not consistent, especially when scientific research results need to be further developed to match actual needs.
