Nearly 200 products participated in the exhibition of intellectual property of Vietnamese female intellectuals

From April 21-22, the National Office of Intellectual Property (Ministry of Science and Technology) in collaboration with the Association of Vietnamese Intellectuals and the National Department of Science and Technology Information (Ministry of Science and Technology) held an exhibition of intellectual property and innovation results of the Vietnamese female intellectual community.
The exhibition attracted the participation of 38 research institutes, universities and businesses with nearly 200 products in many fields, especially those that are often considered as strengths of female researchers, such as medicine - Pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, food processing, environmental pollution treatment and etc.
As one of the events to celebrate World Intellectual Property Day April 26 (IP Day), the exhibition content responds to the theme of this year's IP Day: "Women with intellectual property - Promoting innovation and creativity”.
At the opening ceremony, Deputy Minister of Science and Technology Tran Van Tung emphasized that female intellectuals are an important resource, making many contributions to the country's socio-economic development. The number of women makes up 46% of the research and development workforce (statistics of the National Department of Science and Technology Information in 2019). Femal scientists have carried out many valuable scientific works in terms of theory as well as practical applications in many fields, which are meaningful to the community and bring great economic benefits.
However, according to Deputy Minister Tung, they still face many barriers on the way of scientific research and commercialization of research results. The implementation of promotional and trade promotion activities, such as this exhibition is essential to effectively exploit the intellectual property of female scientists.
Most of the products displayed in the exhibition have been registered for protection of intellectual property rights in various forms (inventions, utility solutions, industrial designs...). This is essential for creators to “have peace of mind” when bringing their products to market.
Within the framework of the exhibition, there were also training activities, consultancy on intellectual property and seminars to discuss cooperation among institutes, universities and enterprises. The exhibition took place until the end of April 22 at the National Department of Science and Technology Information, No.24 Ly Thuong Kiet.
