With the goal of becoming a transparent-responsible-sustainable food producer and supplier, Vietnam is ready to join hands with other countries to transform sustainable food systems to ensure an appropriate food system intelligently respond to the increasingly serious impact of the environment and disease.

Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang: Vietnam is ready to join hands with other countries to transform a sustainable food system

In the morning of April 24, 2023, the 4th Global Conference on Sustainable Food Systems with the theme "Together to transform food systems, healthy and sustainable food, adapting to climate change in the context of a new crisis" hosted by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, opened in Hanoi.

This is a Ministerial Conference with the participation of more than 300 delegates, including nearly 200 international delegates from many countries, United Nations agencies, and international organizations.

The conference took place in the context that countries around the world are concerned about the risk of food insecurity due to the impact of climate change, loss of biodiversity, emerging pandemics including Covid-19, conflicts and rising prices of input materials for food production.

Right before this conference, on April 22, 2023, Agriculture Ministers of the world's leading developed industries (G7) met in Miyazaki city, southwestern Japan, to find find solutions to ensure a stable food supply. The G7 Ministers agreed to expand food production and support developing countries to increase food security on the basis of promoting sustainable and environmentally friendly agriculture.

The objective of the Conference is to review the main barriers, difficulties and challenges related to the transformation of the food system and propose solutions. In addition, the Conference will introduce good, typical models of food system transformation in countries and international initiatives.

Speaking at the opening of the conference, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang affirmed that Vietnam is a responsible country and is ready to join hands with other countries in transforming a sustainable food system to contribute to protecting the plannet.
