Signing Ceremony of Memorandum of Understanding between the National Office of Intellectual Property and the Academy of Science, Technology and Innovation
Responding to the 133rd birthday of the great President Ho Chi Minh and the 10th anniversary of Vietnam Science and Technology Day on May 18, the National Office of Intellectual Property and the Academy of Science, Technology and Innovation have held a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signing ceremony to further strengthen cooperation activities to well perform the function of state management in science and technology, innovation and intellectual property (IP).

The memorandum of cooperation between the two units shows the profound understanding of the direction of the Minister of Science and Technology Huynh Thanh Dat in the congratulatory letter on Vietnam Science and Technology Day 18/5, which is: “We need to unite and cooperate and coordinate more closely, stick to practice, adapt and innovate, improve the capacity of the national innovation system, create a supporting motivation for businesses and the actors of the innovation ecosystem development…”.

The signing of a Memorandum of Understanding will be the basis for implementing cooperation activities between the Department and the Academy in an active, cohesive and systematic manner, and coordination activities will be planned and implemented in the deeper.

The signing ceremony was held in a solemn and cozy atmosphere with the participation of Mr. Dinh Huu Phi, Director of NOIP, Mr. Hoang Minh, Director of Academy of Science, Technology and Innovation. Attending and witnessing the signing ceremony, there were Mrs. Nguyen Thi Hai Hang, Director of the Center for Science and Technology Communication Research and Development, leaders of the NOIP and the Academy, leaders of departments, and centers affiliated to the two units.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, Director Dinh Huu Phi emphasized the important role and highly appreciated the activities of the two units in performing the state management function on Science, Technology, Innovation and Intellectual Property of the Ministry of Science and Technology. NOIP and Academy are two units of the Ministry of Science and Technology with many activities that need to support each other in terms of expertise and resources.

This Memorandum of Understanding will be the basis for the two units to promote their advantages and potentials to cooperate more effectively in research, training, staff training and consulting activities on science and technology, innovation and IP for the whole country. The signing ceremony also has a special meaning when taking place on the occasion of President Ho Chi Minh's birthday and Vietnam Science and Technology Day. The Director also thoroughly grasped the serious, expeditious and concretized implementation of the contents of the Memorandum of Understanding.

Along with the signing of cooperation agreements with other agencies, the Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation with the Academy of Science, Technology and Innovation demonstrates that NOIP has a cooperative and coordinated relationship with many agencies and units under the Ministry of Science and Technology and Departments of Science and Technology of provinces and cities nationwide.

The signing ceremony is also an opportunity for leaders and officers of units of the Department and the Academy to exchange experiences as well as discuss directions that the two sides can deploy in the future, especially training activities and fostering science, technology, innovation and intellectual property to meet the increasing demands of society.
