The Directorate of Standards, Metrology and Quality trained internally on 5S tools, putting quality productivity into practice
In the afternoon of June 2, 2023, the Directorate of Standards, Metrology and Quality organized an internal training program on 5S quality improvement tools. The key speaker is Mr. Le Minh Tam - Deputy Director in charge of the Professional Training Center for Standards, Metrology and Quality.

The program has the participation of Dr. Ha Minh Hiep - Deputy Director in charge of the Directorate of Standards, Metrology and Quality together with leaders and officers of units under the Directorate.

Speaking at the program, Dr. Ha Minh Hiep emphasized the importance of improving productivity and quality in the current context of international integration and competition. In particular, understanding and applying quality productivity improvement tools in general (Kaizen, Lean, TPM...) and 5S in particular for individuals and organizations and businesses is an important step to bring quality productivity into practice.

Next, Mr. Le Minh Tam shared about 5S productivity improvement tools. Specifically, 5S is a collection of 5 Japanese words that start with the letter S: Seiri – Seiton – Seiso – Seiketsu – Shitsuke. In essence, these words mean the following: Seiri – distinguishing between necessary and unnecessary things in the workplace and then discarding the unnecessary; Seiton – arrange the things left after seiri in a neat order, convenient for use; Seiso – cleaning and maintaining machines, clean working environment; Seiketsu – always improve and maintain workplace hygiene by regularly performing the above 3 steps; Shitsuke – make everyone a habit of complying with regulations at work and voluntarily participating in 5S activities.

At the program, Mr. Le Minh Tam gave easy-to-understand examples of 5S tools, how to apply 5S in businesses, organizations, administrative agencies... so as to avoid formality but need get into the essence of the problem, thus promoting the effectiveness of this tool. At the same time, the program is also an opportunity for cadres, civil servants, public employees, workers... at the General Directorate of Standards, Metrology and Quality to ask questions and directly exchange problems, thereby gradually raising awareness about quality productivity.
