Researching and compiling Can Tho Geography: Can Tho Culture
On June 15, 2023, Can Tho City Department of Science and Technology established a Council to directly assign organizations and individuals to implement the Social Science Project "Research and compile Can Tho Geography: Can Tho Culture". The study is carried out by MSc.Nguyen Thuc Hien - Vice Chairman of Can Tho City People's Committee, Can Tho City Party Committee Office is an implementing organization, Can Tho City Party Committee Propaganda Department is an implementing organization, Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Department of Education and Training, Department of Health, Department of Home Affairs, Union of Culture and Arts Associations, Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities of CTU, Can Tho Library and Museum, Can Tho Journalists Association are implementation coordination organizations.

The objective of the study is to research, systematize, and compile knowledge about Can Tho culture in the historical process from the founding of Tran Giang to the present, including: Overview of culture; Land and people; Cuisine; Housing, travel; Religious beliefs; Rituals, customs and festivals; Architectural heritage; Han Nom Heritage; Craft villages and farming tools; Literature; Art; Newspapers; Communication and publishing; Medical; Education; Sports.

In which, with specific objectives including: Researching, gathering materials and compiling according to the objectives; Compiling a general, systematic way to locate specific cultural values of the ancient land of Tran Giang - Can Tho; Compiled on the basis of inheritance in the book “Can Tho Geography” (2002); Writing a draft of the Can Tho Culture Book in the general overview of Can Tho Geography has 17 Chapters.

The council emphasized the importance of the project and at the same time contributed many ideas for the research team to soon complete the key contents, such as the structure of the geographical content, the translation of the geographies after completion and etc.
