Science and technology, innovation and startup - Driving force for development in the Mekong Delta
In the morning of June 16, 2023, Can Tho University held an online seminar with the topic "Science and technology, innovation and startup - The driving force for the development of the Mekong Delta". This is the 6th quarterly regular webinar in 2023 within the framework of the Mekong Delta Sustainable Development Forum (SDMD 2045).

Overview of the seminar

SDMD 2045 Forum is an important event, implemented in accordance with the policy of the Government, initiated and chaired by Can Tho University from 2022, in order to connect domestic and international stakeholders, contributing to proposing orientations, policies and solutions for the government, agencies and departments; at the same time, promote cooperation in the development and implementation of practical programs and projects for sustainable development of the Mekong Delta.

The seminar revolved around the following contents: Scientific research, technology transfer and innovation – The role of parties in cooperation in the development of the Mekong Delta; Vision, orientation and national innovation solutions; Motivation and activities of Dong Thap province innovation and startup; Innovation and youth startup – Future vision; Science and Technology, Innovation and Startup – Driving force for sustainable development; Discussion of delegates. Signing a cooperation agreement between the National Innovation Center (NIC) - Ministry of Planning and Investment and Can Tho University; Signing cooperation agreement between Vietnam Federation of Trade and Industry Can Tho branch (VCCI Can Tho) and Can Tho University; Signing a cooperation agreement between Rynan Technologyies Vietnam Joint Stock Company and Can Tho University.

Speaking at the opening of the Seminar, Prof. Dr. Ha Thanh Toan, Rector of CTU introduced about the school and SDMD 2045 Forum. He emphasized that science and technology, innovation and startup, promoting business and community development, are important resources in development of the region and the whole country, especially in the era of the fourth industrial revolution. International experience has proven that, in the current trend of integration and development, startup and business creation is an important driving force of the economy, contributing to solving significant difficulties and challenges as well as towards the sustainable development of the Mekong Delta in particular and the country in general.

The seminar is an opportunity for managers, experts, scientists, businesses, the start-up and innovation community, from central to local, domestic and international levels to share valuable experiences in order to support for the innovative startup ecosystem that contributes to the sustainable development of the Mekong Delta. SDMD 2045 Forum is increasingly promoting its effectiveness, serving as an effective bridge for cooperation and sustainable development programs of the region and the whole country.
