World Intellectual Property Organization organized intensive training on searching patent information for scientists of TISC Vietnam Network members
Deploying activities to support the Vietnam TISC Network, in order to support the patent capacity of scientists of the Network's members, the World Intellectual Property Organization in collaboration with the National Office of Intellectual Property organized two intensive training courses on searching for patent information on December 5-7, 2022 and May 24-26, 2023.

The Technology and Innovation Support Center Program (TISC), is a Program initiated by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), oriented to provide innovators with easy access to high-quality technology information and related services in the locally. In the context of joint cooperation with national industrial property authorities, in addition to many technical assistance activities, WIPO strived to assist in skill building for TISC network staff through on-the-job training courses and distance learning; provide information and training materials; share experiences and practices.

Vietnam's TISC network was officially established in 2012, besides the activities of the National Office of Intellectual Property and its members to promote and develop the Network, WIPO has always supported the Network in the work of upgrading the network in capacity building for members to exploit their innovation potential, continuously create, protect and manage intellectual property rights.

Training, resource provision and networking are the pillars of support provided by WIPO to TISC members, and based on demand from universities, research institutes under the Network, WIPO and the National Office of Intellectual Property jointly organized two training courses on skills in searching for patent information on December 5-7, 2022 and May 24-26, 2023. The two training courses received direct support from the TISC Development Department, the Intellectual Property Office for Innovators, and the WIPO Intellectual Property and Innovation Ecosystem Department.

The content of the training course focuses on patent information for research and development activities, types of patent search, skills in clarifying terms to find keywords for searching, classifying patent documents, patent search tools and databases, patent search strategies and reports, assessment of novelty and inventiveness for patent protection. In addition to useful documents shared, the expert group also provided practical examples to help students grasp knowledge and skills more quickly. Each training class lasted for 3 days, held in an online form on Zoom software, creating opportunities for students and experts to exchange and discuss.
