Hanoi National University: Focusing on investing in strong research groups
Recently, Vietnam National University, Hanoi (VNU) organized the annual Conference on Science, Technology and Innovation in 2023. The conference aims to implement strategies, plans and focus implementing a number of breakthrough policies, such as investment in key laboratories/research centers, strong research groups; international publication support; support young researchers; attracting excellent scientists to work at VNU; promoting linkages with businesses/developing innovation ecosystems in the field of science and technology research and transfer.

VNU has issued the Strategy for Science, Technology and Innovation for the period of 2021-2030, which clearly states that Science, Technology and Innovation is the foundation and driving force for the development of VNU. By 2030, VNU's science, technology and innovation activities will play a pivotal role, making an important contribution to the implementation of the Strategy to develop VNU into a research and innovation university among the top 300 universities in the world to address some of the country's urgency challenges. To realize this important goal in the new context, VNU directed its units to focus on mobilizing overall resources to successfully implement the S&T targets in the Science, Technology and Innovation Strategy.

Speaking at the opening of the conference, VNU President Le Quan emphasized that 2023 was identified by VNU as a breakthrough year in science and technology activities. In addition to the policies on science and technology that have been issued and implemented in recent years, VNU has focused on developing applied research, transferring and commercializing S&T products, removing obstacles in setting up S&T enterprises. With the orientation of science and technology development to create a driving force to increase sustainable development indicators, VNU has issued many mechanisms and policies to utilize and reward scientists, creating motivation to promote the development of scientific potentials. technology and innovation.

VNU's policies are set out in the direction of focused investment "raising up", prioritizing investment resources for research groups with good publication and national key S&T programs/projects. VNU President Le Quan shared that many VNU scientists participated in policy advisory groups and policy critiques of ministries, departments and agencies. Scientists have exploited their research strengths, coordinated with localities to deploy S&T tasks for local socio-economic development.

With the implemented policies, VNU has attracted more than 100 young scientists with high qualifications to work and the number of scientific articles published in prestigious international journals has also increased sharply with 1,600 articles in 2022. Along with that, VNU's index of employer satisfaction and reputation in the community are increasing strongly. Recently, according to the Times Higher Education (THE Impact) influence ranking, VNU was named in the list of 70 leading educational institutions in the world for quality education.
