Ho Chi Minh City Department of Science and Technology organized training on first aid skills for union members and youths
In the morning of March 14, within the framework of the Youth Union and Youth Movement Work Program 2024 of the Department of Science and Technology, the Standing Committee of the Department of Science and Technology organized a training session on rescue elementary skills for union members and youths at Sihub Hall, District 3, Ho Chi Minh City.
According to Mr. Vo Thanh Au - Deputy Secretary of the Youth Union, Deputy Head of the Organization Board, the training session aims to equip union members and young people with first aid skills to properly handle health incidents for children, adults, the elderly in daily life, in the office, when participating in traffic, traveling, and etc. The contents of the training session are all necessary, suitable skills to the needs of union members and youth and can be applied in practice.
The guest of the training session was SSVN (Survival Skills Vietnam) organization with two speakers: Mr. Tony Coffey - Training consultant, first aid expert - rapid response and Mr. Ho Thai Binh, co-founder - Director SSVN Survival Skills Limited Company.
In fact, when seeing people get acidents on the road, not everyone has the skills and confidence to stop and assist. In many accidents, time is a matter of life and death for the victim. When unfortunately someone is unconscious or even stops breathing, within 30-180 seconds they will suffer brain death, cardiac arrest and death. Many people got acidents and survived thanks to proper and timely first aid.
Talking at the event, Mr. Tony Coffey said that in developed countries, first aid is a mandatory content in the high school curriculum and anyone can do it. First aid is not treatment, it does not involve deep intervention, it only depends on the victim's body to better support them before and while being taken to the hospital. According to him, first aid formulas need to be firstly rescued easy to remember, because when encountering an emergency, it is difficult for rescuers to remember the steps sequentially, they only need to grasp the core rules to quickly save people.
