Building a continuous movement assessment system to detect early progression of cerebral infarction due to large vessel occlusion and transient ischemic attack
In the morning of April 24, 2024, Can Tho City Department of Science and Technology organized a mid-term evaluation council for the science and technology project "Building a continuous movement assessment system to early detect the progression of cerebral infarction due to large vessel occlusion and transient ischemic attack". The Council was presided by Dr. Ngo Anh Tin - Director of Can Tho City Department of Science and Technology. The study will be carried out by Dr. Ha Tan Duc and Dr. Nguyen Van Binh. Can Tho Central General Hospital is an implementing agency.

Overview of the meeting

The content of the project includes: Real-time movement data collection and analysis system connected to the central processing system; Movement characteristics in normal people when awake and sleeping; Movement characteristics due to the impact of external forces in patients with cerebral infarction or transient ischemic attack; Threshold for reduced movement (when awake and asleep) to detect early progression of cerebral infarction due to occlusion of large blood vessels in the anterior circulation or posterior circulation with mild neurological deficits based on a continuous movement monitoring system; Hypoactivity threshold (when awake and asleep) for early detection of transient ischemic attack progression based on a continuous movement monitoring system.

Council's members

Over the period of implementation, the research team has developed equipment and completely built software to identify when users decrease or increase movement; Content 2 and 3: Data has not been collected; Content 4 and 5: Continuing to collect data, currently reaching about 15% of the plan.

Research team

Expected implementation of the remaining tasks: The software runs automatically every hour, retrieves data within the previous 24 hours and estimates when the user changes activity, only alerting via the application when there is a decrease movement (on app and web); The application can be deployed to many people at the same time, in many different geographical locations in Vietnam; Continue to collect data on patients with cerebral infarction due to large vessel occlusion of the anterior circulation or posterior circulation with mild neurological deficits, and transient ischemic attacks to evaluate the accuracy of diagnosing movement or sentience.

The Council agreed to allow the research team to extend the time for implementing the project. However, the they need to edit the content according to comments from council’s members.
