Ho Chi Minh City seeks to attract overseas Vietnamese to develop high-tech industries
On May 8, the Committee for Overseas Vietnamese in Ho Chi Minh City organized an international seminar "The role of the community of Vietnamese businessmen and intellectuals abroad with the development of Ho Chi Minh City according to the Resolution No. 98/2023/QH15; Directive No. 27-CT/TU; Resolution No. 18/NQ-HDND”.

In her opening speech, Chairwoman of the Committee for Overseas Vietnamese in Ho Chi Minh City Vu Thi Huynh Mai said: Resolution No. 98/2023/QH15 of the National Assembly "On piloting a number of specific development mechanisms and policies of Ho Chi Minh City" was approved by the National Assembly on June 24, 2023, then on July 8, 2023, the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee issued Directive No. 27-CT/TU on "Leading and directing on the implementation of Resolution No.98 of the National Assembly", on July 10, 2023, the People's Council of Ho Chi Minh City issued Resolution No. 18/NQ-HDND on "Implementing Resolution No. 98 of the National Assembly".

With its functions and tasks, the Ho Chi Minh City Committee has proactively advised the City's leaders to implement many contents to maximize the resources of Vietnamese people living abroad to contribute to the overall development of Ho Chi Minh City. Some projects can be mentioned, such as"Mobilizing Vietnamese people abroad to participate in introducing and consuming products and developing distribution channels for Vietnamese goods abroad"; "Promoting the resources of Vietnamese people abroad to serve national development in the new situation"; “Remittance policy in Ho Chi Minh City in the period of 2024-2030”, and etc.
