Bac Kan seedless persimmon is one of two agricultural products protected by geographical indications
Recently, a working delegation of the Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST) led by Deputy Minister Hoang Minh had a working session with the People's Committee of Bac Kan province on science, technology and innovation in the province. The report at the working session of the People's Committee of Bac Kan province confirmed a number of results achieved in science and technology activities and outlined the future development orientation of this field.

The report of the People's Committee of Bac Kan province said that the work of building and completing mechanisms and policies to serve as a basis and create a legal corridor to serve state management of science and technology in the province is basically completed and synchronous. Develop legal documents, directives, action programs of the Provincial Party Committee, 5-year and annual plans of the Provincial People's Committee and direct the Department of Science and Technology to develop detailed annual plans to well implement activities of state management of science and technology in the area.

The province's budget investment in science and technology averages 0.4-0.5% per year of the total provincial budget expenditure, much lower than the provisions in Clause 1, Article 49 of the Law on Science and Technology "The State guarantees Spending on science and technology accounts for 2% or more of the total annual state budget expenditure and gradually increases according to the development requirements of the cause of science and technology.

In the past 27 years (since the re-establishment of the province), the Provincial People's Committee has approved the implementation of 262 provincial-level science and technology tasks, an average of 9-10 tasks/year, of which the field of agricultural science accounts for 56%, science engineering and technology studies account for 19%, medical sciences 9%, social sciences and humanities 16%. The tasks have closely followed the Resolutions of the Provincial Party Congress through the terms, promptly resolving urgent issues and problems in localities, actively contributing to socio-economic development and security, the province's national defense. The results of completed tasks bring scientific and practical value, ensuring feasibility and economic efficiency, and are the basis for development orientation, economic restructuring, and exploitation of potential and advantages in climate and land to develop specialty crops, creating a commodity production area with high economic value, contributing to increasing income, improving the lives of ethnic minorities and moving towards create unique products to serve tourism development.
