Ho Chi Minh City trained on protection registration and intellectual property management for products under the OCOP program
On May 30, Ho Chi Minh City Department of Science and Technology organized a training conference "Protection registration, intellectual property management, traceability and labeling of goods for products under the program OCOP."

According to Ms. Nguyen Thi Ngoc Nhung (Deputy Head of Intellectual Property Management and Innovation Department, Ho Chi Minh City Department of Science and Technology), the current OCOP program is creating a playground for businesses and cooperation. The commune develops products with regional advantages. Ho Chi Minh City is also making efforts to support entities participating in the OCOP program. Through this training program, the Department hopes to provide a lot of useful information and guidance to businesses, business households, and cooperatives on how to register for intellectual property protection, as well as other activities. Activities related to traceability, labeling of goods and quantification of pre-packaged goods for typical products, contributing to creating advantages for registering to participate in the evaluation and classification of OCOP products.

At the conference, Mr. Nguyen Van Ba ​​(Director of AMC Vietnam Brand Development and Consul Company) presented a report on "The role of intellectual property in developing local OCOP products and specific products". In addition, Ms. Vo Dinh Lien Ngoc (Deputy Director of the Department of Standards, Metrology and Quality) also introduced and disseminated regulations on product labels and measurement regulations for pre-packaged goods; Ms. Ly Cun Mui (Standards and TBT Management Department, Ho Chi Minh City Department of Standards, Metrology and Quality) presented instructions on regulations on traceability management of products and goods (according to Circular No. 02 /2024/TT-BKHCN dated March 18, 2024 of the Ministry of Science and Technology).

Mr. Nguyen Van Ba ​​said that the OCOP program is an economic development program in rural areas in the direction of promoting internal resources (intelligence, creativity, labor, raw materials, local culture,...) and increase value. The goal of the program is to develop OCOP products to awaken the potential and advantages of rural areas to increase people's income; contribute to the continued restructuring of the agricultural sector associated with the development of handicrafts, industries, services and rural tourism; Promote sustainable development of the rural economy, based on strengthening the application of digital transformation and circular economy, preserving cultural values, managing resources, preserving biodiversity, landscape and rural environment, contributing to building new rural areas in depth, effectively and sustainably. Products participating in the OCOP program are of local origin, featuring cultural values ​​and local advantages, in the fields of food, beverages, medicinal herbs, handicrafts, and biological products, scenery, travel services, and etc.
