Developing the land of "Nine Dragons" based on science, technology and innovation
Promote the application of technology and technical advances to solve urgent problems, such as climate change and saltwater intrusion; perfecting the legal system, mechanisms, and policies on science, technology, and innovation (Science, Technology, and Innovation); Mobilizing resources for the development of science, technology and innovation to practically and effectively serve the socio-economic development goals of the Mekong Delta region - the land of "Nine Dragons" of the country is the wish and expectation of the leaders of the Ministry of Science and Technology as well as representatives of the provinces/cities in the Mekong Delta at the 27th Science and Technology Conference in the Mekong Delta (held in Ben Tre on June 14, 2024).

The Mekong Delta includes 13 provinces/cities (Can Tho City and provinces: An Giang, Bac Lieu, Ben Tre, Ca Mau, Can Tho, Dong Thap, Hau Giang, Kien Giang, Soc Trang, Tien Giang, Tra Vinh, Vinh Long ). This is one of the most fertile deltas in Southeast Asia and Asia, and is the largest producer and exporter of food, seafood and fruits in Vietnam. In particular, the Mekong Delta is famous for being a vast river region, with vast fruit orchards, rich produce, and people who are both generous, spirited, and sincere, and etc.

Speaking at the opening of the 27th Science and Technology Conference in the Mekong Delta, Minister of Science and Technology Huynh Thanh Dat said that for socio-economic development, in recent years, the Party and State have paid special attention to the Mekong Delta, notably investing in infrastructure and industrial park development, such as Trung Luong - Can Tho - My Thuan - Ca Mau expressway; Chau Doc (An Giang) - Tran De (Soc Trang) expressway; Tran De port - Soc Trang, Can Tho port; investing in Block B gas mine exploitation project and O Mon Thermal Power Plant in Can Tho City with an investment cost of up to 12 billion USD; Project for sustainable development of 1 million hectares of high-quality, low emissions are associated with green growth, and etc.

These works/projects, when put into operation, will certainly create a major breakthrough in the region's socio-economic development. In particular, in recent years, many mechanisms and policies to support scientific research, application, and technological innovation have been issued and put into practice; The innovation startup ecosystem is gradually forming and developing rapidly; Many science and technology solutions to flexibly respond to climate change have been organized and deployed effectively in the Mekong Delta. It can be said that research activities and application of technical advances have been increasingly linked to practical production and contribute to the socio-economic development of each locality and the whole region.
