Design of an automatic system for transporting specimens, drugs and medical supplies at medical facilities in Can Tho city
In the afternoon of April 23, 2025, Can Tho City Department of Science and Technology held a meeting of the Selection Council for organizations and individuals to preside over the implementation of city-level scientific and technological research tasks on a project "Design of an automatic system for transporting specimens, drugs and medical supplies at medical facilities in Can Tho City."

Dr. Ngo Anh Tin, Director of the Department and presided of the Councll

Attending the meeting, there were Dr. Ngo Anh Tin, Director of the Department and presided of the Council, and members who are leading experts in the fields of medicine and mechanical engineering - automation. The project will be implemeented by Dr. Nguyen Hoang Dung and implemented by Can Tho University, aims to develop an automatic, precise transport system to replace the manual method currently popular in hospitals in the city.

Overview of the meeting

Currently, the transportation of specimens, drugs and medical supplies in Vietnamese hospitals mainly relies on manual methods, causing many limitations, such as confusion, time-consuming, difficult to control and not ensuring biosafety, especially in the context of complicated epidemics. Some hospitals have applied pneumatic systems to improve transportation efficiency (PTS system), but there are still many limitations, such as difficult maintenance, lack of real-time monitoring capabilities and unsuitability for many different types of items. Therefore, the prore aims to design and manufacture a system for transporting specimens, drugs and medical supplies in the same medical facility in Can Tho using a fully automatic method, achieving an accuracy of about 95%, in order to improve the efficiency of management and ensure biosafety.

Council’s members

During the meeting, the Steering Committee listened seriously to the comments from the council members and the participating experts. Based on these comments, the research team needs to edit, supplement and perfect the explanatory content as well as the project implementation plan, in order to improve the feasibility and practical application of the project. The goal is to develop a modern system, suitable for the requirements of the Can Tho city health sector, contributing to building a smarter, safer and more effective health system in the future.
