Research on reusing ash and slag from domestic solid waste incinerators as raw materials for the production of construction materials
In the afternoon of March 5, 2025, the Department of Science and Technology of Can Tho City established a mid-term evaluation council for the science and technology project "Research on reusing ash and slag from domestic solid waste incinerators as raw materials for the production of construction materials".

Overview of the meeting

Dr. Ngo Anh Tin - Director of the Department of Science and Technology of Can Tho City is the Chairman of the council. The study is carried out by Associate Professor, Dr. Huynh Trong Phuoc. Can Tho University is an organization in charge of implementing the project.

The content of the project includes: General research on bottom slag from solid waste incinerators as raw materials for construction materials production; Research on technological processes for producing concrete paving bricks using bottom slag aggregate from solid waste incinerators; Trial production and development of technical instructions for producing concrete paving bricks using bottom slag from solid waste incinerators; Trial construction of concrete paving bricks produced using bottom slag from solid waste incinerators and development of a project summary report.

Over the implementation period, contents 1 and 2 have been fully implemented, meeting the requirements in terms of quantity, quality and progress. The results of the experiments have shown that the slag from the solid waste incinerator has a suitable chemical composition as aggregate for the production of concrete paving bricks, with technical indicators within safe limits. This is an important direction for recycling wastes and effectively using resources, contributing to environmental protection.

Expected tasks to be implemented in the coming time: Continue to implement contents 3 and 4 and tasks according to approved explanations, complete the scientific and technological products of the project on the technological process of manufacturing concrete paving bricks using solid waste incinerator bottom slag as raw material.

The Council agreed to allow the research team to extend the project implementation period. In addition, the members of the Council provided comments and feedback to improve the research quality and practical value of the project.
