Mission of the National Fund for Science and Technology Development: Creating a favorable research environment of international standards
According to Mr. Dao Ngoc Chien, Director of the National Foundation for Science and Technology Development (Nafosted), the fund's goal is to create a standard international research environment, enhance Vietnam's science and technology capacity, promote strategic technology production and raise the country's position on the global technology map.

Mr. Dao Ngoc Chien: Nafosted's mission is to create a favorable research environment according to international standards.

To carry out this mission, Minister of Science and Technology Nguyen Manh Hung has set out strategic guidelines, which serve as the foundation for the fund's operations during the breakthrough period of innovation, digital transformation and science and technology development. On that basis, Mr. Chien identified key tasks, such as building a strategy to promote double-digit growth in the period of 2026-2030, promoting international integration, optimizing processes to reduce the number of studies but improve quality, focusing on investing in core technologies and expanding the ability to commercialize research products.

In addition, the fund focuses on developing a team of qualified personnel, digitalization and international cooperation, and building a professional and modern working environment to stimulate creativity and improve work efficiency. At the same time, the digital platform will help share resources, connect scientists, organizations, and businesses, expand cooperation opportunities, and strengthen links between institutes and businesses. Mr. Chien committed that the fund will accompany scientists not only through financial resources but also through listening and timely support to nurture valuable scientific ideas, contributing to mastering technology, knowledge, and creating a self-reliant future for the country.

With these orientations, Nafosted aims to build a solid foundation for the development of Vietnamese science and technology, contributing to promoting creativity, innovation and digital transformation, thereby enhancing the country's position on the international technology map and meeting the challenges of the new era.
