On May 15 and 16 in Ho Chi Minh City, the ABAII Institute collaborated with the US Consulate General to organize a course on “AI Ethics” with the participation of 300 trainees including experts, managers, lecturers and researchers, which also took place in Hanoi with more than 200 attendees.

These are the first courses on AI ethics in Vietnam, in line with the national strategy to 2030 on research and application of artificial intelligence, in which AI ethics and policy are identified as important pillars.
In the context of Vietnam promoting digital transformation and developing the private sector, the development of ethical principles for AI needs to be appropriate to the practice and scale of the organization, starting from the basic principles and then adjusting according to the development process. In developed countries, such as the United States, Japan, and the EU, the issue of AI ethics has received special attention, with large companies, such as Microsoft and IBM developing sets of principles and tools to ensure that AI operates safely, responsibly, and brings social benefits.
Experts emphasized that, as AI becomes more and more popular globally, many organizations are still unprepared in terms of ethics and risk management, leading to risks and passivity. Therefore, it is recommended that organizations in Vietnam proactively build a compliance and risk control roadmap early, such as risk assessment, high-level approval, and legal analysis to determine the appropriate direction. The course not only provides a knowledge base to build a community of responsible AI users but also creates momentum for the formation of a network of experts, contributing to improving the ability to respond to future technological challenges.
