Acceptance of the task of building a metadata system for the HCMGIS data warehouse
Ho Chi Minh City Department of Science and Technology organized a Council to accept the task of building a metadata system for the HCMGIS data warehouse, presided by the Ho Chi Minh City Geographic Information System Application Center.
The task was carried out by Engineer Nguyen Tung Cuong. This system aims to provide detailed information about data, including origin, quality, characteristics and usage, helping to manage, organize and retrieve data more easily and accurately, while increasing the ability to share and automatically link data.
In the report, Engineer Nguyen Tung Cuong said that the team has fully updated metadata for 80 map layers in the HCMGIS data warehouse according to the standards of the Ministry of Information and Communications, supporting users to manage, search and look up data more effectively. The system includes functions, such as system administration, management of identification information, quality, spatial reference, content and data distribution, ensuring data is clear, consistent and easy to access.
Although updating metadata faces many challenges, Mr. Cuong emphasized that with appropriate solutions, such as building clear standards, using automation tools and regular evaluation, organizations can overcome difficulties, maximize the benefits of metadata to improve the efficiency of data management and exploitation, contributing to the sustainable development of geographic data systems.
