Vietnam and Norway promoted cooperation in clean energy transition
The high-level technical workshop on Vietnam's energy transition, held on May 28 in Hanoi by the Norwegian Embassy in coordination with the Electricity and Renewable Energy Authority (Ministry of Industry and Trade), attracted more than 70 delegates from government agencies, businesses, international organizations and large corporations, such as EVN, PVN, PVGas, PTSC and international experts in the field of clean energy.

Overview of the event

The event focused on discussing solutions to promote sustainable energy development, with a special focus on offshore wind power, hydrogen, energy storage and carbon capture technology, contributing to shaping Vietnam's energy strategy in the context of the target of reaching more than 122,000 MW of renewable energy by 2030, accounting for more than 51% of total power capacity and far exceeding the forecast of Power Plan VIII.

Speakers, including representatives from DNV – a global risk management and quality assurance group from Norway, presented in-depth papers, aiming to contribute to promoting an efficient, smart and sustainable energy transition. In her speech, Norwegian Ambassador Hilde Solbakken affirmed Norway's commitment to supporting Vietnam in its green transition journey, saying that DNV's global knowledge and experience will play an important role in building a low-emission and sustainable future for Vietnam.

She emphasized that this cooperation not only helps improve domestic capacity but also contributes to promoting Vietnam's international energy policy in line with its commitment to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and adapt to climate change. At the same time, Mr. Brice Le Gallo, Vice President of Asia-Pacific at DNV, commented that Vietnam is emerging as a renewable energy hub in the region, while Mr. Hagsung Kim, Vice President of Global Business Development at DNV, emphasized the role of digital solutions in promoting the energy transition in a more efficient, intelligent and faster way.

The workshop is not only a forum for sharing professional knowledge but is also expected to be a strategic bridge between Vietnam and the international community, contributing to shaping policies and creating a solid foundation for a sustainable energy future. This event clearly demonstrates the desire to promote international cooperation, promote innovative solutions and new technologies to make clean energy the center of Vietnam's economy, contribute to environmental protection and improve national energy security in the period of digital transformation and global climate change.
