Can Tho launched peak campaign to prevent smuggling, trade fraud, counterfeit goods, and intellectual property infringement
In the afternoon of May 21, Can Tho City People's Committee held a meeting to deploy a peak period in the fight against, preventing and repelling smuggling, trade fraud, counterfeit goods and infringement of intellectual property rights in the area. Chairman of the People's Committee of the City Truong Canh Tuyen and Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of the City, Head of Steering Committee 389/TP Nguyen Thuc Hien presided.

At the meeting, the Prime Minister's Official Dispatch No. 65/CD-TTg dated May 15, 2025 on launching a peak period to combat and prevent smuggling, trade fraud, counterfeit goods, and infringement of intellectual property rights was implemented. At the same time, Decision No. 1253/QD-UBND dated May 21, 2025 on the establishment of a Working Group of the Chairman of the City People's Committee to implement this peak period was announced.

The working group is headed by Chairman of the City People's Committee Truong Canh Tuyen, with two Deputy Heads including Mr. Ha Vu Son, Director of the Department of Industry and Trade, and Mr. Tran Hoang Do, Deputy Director of the City Police. In addition, the group has 18 members who are leaders of departments, branches, and People's Committees of districts. Thus, 9 Chairmen of the District People's Committees are directly responsible for incidents arising in the area, directing a comprehensive review of production and business establishments, especially rented warehouses with suspicious signs.

Speaking at the conference, Chairman of the City People's Committee Truong Canh Tuyen highly appreciated the results of the anti-smuggling and counterfeiting activities of the Steering Committee 389/TP in the past time, all violations were strictly handled. This time, the peak period will be implemented within 1 month, from May 15 to June 15, 2025. At the end of the period, a preliminary summary and evaluation of the implementation results will be conducted. Two inspection teams will be established to conduct surprise inspections and strictly handle violations, especially in areas prone to counterfeit and fake goods, such as functional foods, medicines, etc.
