Associated with fruit-laden gardens, ancient moss-covered houses and a typical Tay Do garden lifestyle, Tan Loc Islet is not only an attractive destination for tourists but also a unique cultural and ecological symbol of Can Tho.

Overview of the meeting

On June 4, 2025,  Can Tho City Department of Science and Technology held a meeting to appraise the budget, tasks of registering for protection, management and development of certification marks for Phong Dien tourism products and services, tourism products and services of Cu Lao Tan Loc, Thot Not district, Can Tho city. On the basis of ensuring that the project is carried out on schedule, with high quality and in line with the new policies of the Party and the State, especially the policy of merging administrative boundaries, the Council has made profound and practical suggestions for the research team to effectively use the project's budget and improve the scientific and practical quality of the project.

Social science projects, especially tourism projects, need to focus on exploiting socio-economic efficiency.

Research team

The project aims to contribute to the preservation and development of a long-standing tourism brand, bearing many cultural colors of the Tay Do region and the Mekong Delta. Tan Loc Islet is known as a land rich in historical and cultural traditions and is a place that preserves many typical values of the West in general.

Dr. Nguyen Quoc Nghi – Lecturer at School of Economics, Can Tho University

With its system of ancient houses, rich fruit gardens, and the gentle, friendly lifestyle of the local people, Tan Loc Islet is not only an attractive destination for domestic and foreign tourists, but also a living testament to the cultural exchange between tradition and modernity.

To improve the scientific efficiency and practical value of the project, Dr. Nguyen Quoc Nghi - Reviewer commented: Tan Loc Islet is a tourist destination associated with the culture of Can Tho City and the Mekong Delta region. The project of protecting the tourism trademark of a place needs to enhance the figurative and artistic qualities, etc. so that the brand name can evoke a connection with a place with many spiritual values.

Council's members

At the same time, the Project needs to develop research methods to fully exploit the proposed research objectives. In addition, the Project needs to link with digital transformation applications to map administrative boundaries, improving the effectiveness of digital transformation of tourism. Can Tho City currently has many platforms that allow for connection, application, and improving the effectiveness of accessing tourism projects.

In addition, for tourism project, it is necessary to improve the effectiveness of access, focusing on exploiting the socio-economic values. At the same time, the effectiveness indicators of the project also need to be measured specifically and in detail.

Dr. Ngo Anh Tin gave a speech at the Council

Research projects need to closely follow the practical situation and policies of the Party and State

In the council, Dr. Ngo Anh Tin - Director of the Department of Science and Technology directed: Projects, and scientific and technological tasks managed by the Department of Science and Technology of the city must ensure compliance with current regulations and meet new policies and guidelines.
