Hanoi University of Industry: Promoting science and technology, elevating its position in integration
In the context of science, technology, innovation, and digital transformation (STID) becoming the core driving force of development, alongside its training activities, Hanoi University of Industry has continuously promoted scientific research, application, and technology transfer. Through a well-planned investment strategy, increased resources, and expanded domestic and international cooperation, the University is gradually affirming its role as a reputable center for applied research, making practical contributions to socio-economic development and international integration.

Research should be oriented towards practical applications, and investment in science and technology should be increased.

Recognizing science and technology as a cornerstone alongside education, Hanoi University of Industry aims to develop into a reputable institution for applied research and technology transfer, capable of accessing, mastering, and developing advanced technologies to serve production and daily life. Following this orientation, Hanoi University of Industry's scientific research activities are not limited to academic publications but strongly oriented towards creating products, processes, and technological solutions with significant application value, commercialization potential, and tangible social impact.

As a multidisciplinary training and research institution, Hanoi University of Industry continuously strengthens its investment in scientific research and technology transfer. In 2025 alone, the University allocated over 10 billion VND to reward outstanding scientific publications by its faculty. For students, the budget for scientific research activities reached over 5 billion VND. In the 2024-2025 academic year, the University's scientists published over 1,500 articles in prestigious domestic and international scientific journals, reflecting an increase in both the quantity and quality of research, and affirming the University's academic position within the higher education system.

Strengthening research resources and infrastructure.

In recent years, the University has focused on developing a highly qualified scientific staff capable of leading state-level and ministerial-level research projects and international cooperation programs. Besides training and developing professional skills, foreign languages, and research skills, the University also encourages the formation of strong research groups and interdisciplinary research groups linked to cutting-edge fields. Priority research directions include mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, automation, information technology, materials technology, environmental technology, and fields related to digital transformation, smart manufacturing, etc. These are fields with high applicability, suitable for the practical needs of the economy and the University's training strengths, thereby contributing to enhancing the reputation of applied research at Hanoi University of Industry.

Alongside improving the quality of its human resources, Hanoi University of Industry also focuses on modernizing its research facilities. The system of laboratories, workshops, and research centers is being invested in a comprehensive manner, gradually meeting the requirements of applied research and technology transfer.

Notably, Hanoi University of Industry is one of the higher education institutions prioritized by the Government for investment in semiconductor laboratories. With a focus on applied research and training high-quality human resources, the University clearly defines its responsibility in effectively utilizing state resources, contributing to the development of semiconductor personnel to serve the digital age. Alongside this, the fields of electrical engineering, electronics, information technology, etc., continue to be promoted to create a foundation for the development of a digital economy based on science, technology, and innovation.

Expanding domestic and international cooperation.

Collaboration with universities, research institutes, and businesses is considered a crucial solution for improving research quality and strengthening international integration. Hanoi University of Industry actively expands its network of domestic and international cooperation in research, technology transfer, and training. Through international cooperation programs, faculty and students have the opportunity to access advanced research methods, participate in international scientific projects, improve their foreign language skills, and develop their ability to work in a global environment. Simultaneously, this activity contributes to enhancing the image and position of the University internationally.

As part of its strategy to enhance cooperation and knowledge sharing, Hanoi University of Industry has hosted numerous national and international scientific workshops and conferences. A prime example is the "VisionAI in Industry 4.0" workshop, in collaboration with the VinFuture Foundation, where experts affirmed the role of computer vision and artificial intelligence in smart factories, opening up opportunities to improve product quality and the competitiveness of Vietnamese businesses.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pham Van Dong - Vice Rector of Hanoi University of Industry, delivered a lecture at the 2025 Science, Technology and Innovation Conference.

In addition, the "Science, Technology and Innovation 2025" conference, in collaboration with the Innovation Department (Ministry of Science and Technology), contributed to spreading the spirit of innovation and promoting linkages between management agencies, research institutes/universities, businesses, and investors. The FAIR 2025 conference, themed "Digital Transformation and Future Trends," further emphasized the crucial role of STID and the Fourth Industrial Revolution in national competitiveness and sustainable growth models, etc.

With nearly 130 years of history and development, Hanoi University of Industry is gradually realizing its goal of becoming an innovative university, meeting international standards in several key areas. Through promoting scientific research, applying technology, and engaging in broad cooperation, the University continues to affirm its position as a reputable institution in the field of STID (Standardized Innovation and Development), making positive contributions to the socio-economic development of the country in the era of integration.

On November 20, 2025, the Prime Minister issued Decision No. 2536/QD-TTg on the transformation of Hanoi University of Industry into Hanoi University of Industry.
