Promoting the reading movement in the context of modern technological development
Promoting the reading movement in the context of rapidly evolving technology, especially artificial intelligence and digitalization, was the message at the launching ceremony of the 4th annual reading movement and library writing competition organized by Hanoi University of Industry on April 4, 2026. This is not only an annual academic activity but also a space to connect book lovers, contributing to spreading the value of reading culture within the student community.

In the context of rapid technological development, especially the explosion of artificial intelligence, reading culture faces both opportunities and challenges. While technology helps people access knowledge faster and in greater variety, reading books has become a core foundation for cultivating profound thinking, critical thinking skills, and personal fortitude.
Therefore, maintaining and developing a reading culture is no longer simply a habit, but an essential skill for each individual to adapt to and master the digital age.
Affirming that role, the Information and Library Center (Hanoi University of Industry) is gradually transforming from a traditional storage space into a modern knowledge center – a place that fosters learning inspiration, creativity, and independent thinking for students.
Through activities such as book fairs and writing competitions, the library not only encourages students to read but also creates opportunities for them to reflect, share, and form their own perspectives in the face of the increasingly fast-paced and complex flow of information.
The highlight of the program is a session on the profile of young leaders in the digital age, emphasizing the connection between reading and personal development. The message conveyed goes beyond simply "reading to know," aiming for "reading to understand and act," an approach that helps students transform knowledge into practical skills. In an era where information can be summarized by artificial intelligence in seconds, it is the process of deep reading, reflection, and independent thinking that creates lasting difference.
In particular, the 4th "Writing About Libraries" competition goes beyond mere academic competition. It's an opportunity for students to reflect on their learning journey, express their affection for the library space, and simultaneously hone their writing, critical thinking, and self-learning skills – indispensable skills even in this era of rapidly changing technology.
In a world where knowledge is constantly evolving, reading culture is the "root" that helps people maintain their depth and identity. Each page of a book not only provides information but also contributes to shaping thinking, character, and vision. Starting with small habits like reading every day, each student can gradually build a solid foundation of knowledge, ready to adapt and create value in the future—a future where technology can support, but cannot replace, human beings who know how to think and learn—a crucial message delivered at the launch ceremony.
