Elevating VNR88 pure rice through a comprehensive agricultural solution
In Nghe An, Vinaseed's superior seed varieties, combined with VFC's advanced plant protection solutions, have yielded excellent results.

On April 23rd in Nghe An, the Vietnam Seed Corporation (Vinaseed), in collaboration with the Vietnam Fumigation Corporation (VFC) and the People's Committee of Dong Thanh commune, organized a conference to evaluate the demonstration model of the VNR88 pure rice variety.

According to Mr. Duong Quang Sau, Deputy General Director of Vinaseed, Vinaseed and VFC - two members of the PAN Group - have collaborated on a demonstration production of the VNR88 pure rice variety. This is a model that combines copyrighted rice varieties and pesticides to improve farming efficiency, optimize yield, and increase the value of rice in the North Central region.

“The comprehensive solution of seeds, fertilizers, and pesticides helps rice plants grow healthily, develop strong resistance, and adapt particularly well to the harsh, hot climate of Central Vietnam. Applying the ‘1 must, 4 correct’ farming method also brings many practical benefits, reducing input costs, increasing income, demonstrating responsibility towards the environment, and improving farmers' health.”

"With a commitment to always stand alongside farmers, Vinaseed will continue to extensively implement demonstration models, thereby providing the most suitable farming solutions for each commune and each specific ecological region," Mr. Duong Quang Sau emphasized.

The model's distinctiveness lies not only in the statistical figures on productivity and product quality but also in directly affirming the correctness of the "all-inclusive agricultural solution" strategy. This collaboration has created favorable conditions for Vinaseed and VFC to share a common vision in building a closed value chain, ensuring everything from seeds to crop care and protection.

Ms. Le Thi Thuy, residing in Dong Thanh commune, said: “This season, my family used the VNR88 rice variety on an area of 3 sao (approximately 500m²). This variety has large grains, thick panicles, and dense kernels, with an expected yield of over 4 quintals per sao. During cultivation, we used compound fertilizers for both topdressing and base fertilization, which significantly saved on investment costs.”

Ms. Phan Thi An, Chairwoman of the People's Committee of Dong Thanh commune, assessed that cultivating VNR88 rice does not require too much effort but yields good profits, which is the difference. This year, the weather has been favorable, resulting in a good harvest, so the farmers are very enthusiastic. "The product quality has been verified, and we expect VNR88 to continue making its mark in future seasons with an increasingly expanded scale and cultivated area. The local government hopes that the company will continue to cooperate in implementing the model, applying appropriate scientific and technical advancements, adapting to climate change, and protecting the environment," Ms. An said.

The demonstration model of the VNR88 pure rice variety in Dong Thanh commune has yielded many positive results, notably its superior characteristics and suitability to the demanding conditions of the North Central region.

Monitoring shows that VNR88 grows and develops well, with an expected average yield of over 7.5 tons/ha, and 8-8.5 tons/ha with good intensive farming practices. Meanwhile, the cost of pure rice seeds is only about one-third compared to many hybrid rice varieties. The outstanding features of VNR88 are its tall plants (105-110cm), upright leaves, compact clumps, good pest and disease resistance, and wide adaptability. The rice grains are translucent, without chalky kernels, and the cooked rice is white, glossy, flavorful, and soft, meeting the increasingly stringent requirements of the market.

In the coming period, under the strategic direction of the PAN Group, Vinaseed and VFC will continue to research, test, and expand integrated technical solutions to help farmers in Nghe An and many other regions across the country have the fastest access to advanced scientific and technological platforms, thereby optimizing investment costs and improving economic efficiency.

Sharing a common vision within the sustainable ecosystem of the PAN Group, Vinaseed and VFC are expected to create suitable agricultural solutions, providing a solid foundation for farmers.
