How will vehicles travel on the three newly opened expressways across the Central region?
According to the plan, from noon on April 29, the expressways including Quảng Ngãi - Hoài Nhơn; Hoài Nhơn - Quy Nhơn; and part of the Quy Nhơn - Chí Thạnh project will officially open to traffic. With these three expressways, drivers will reduce their travel distance by 30 km and save 2 hours compared to traveling on National Highway 1.

12 convenient interchanges for people to choose from
It is known that along the nearly 200 km route of the three projects, there are 12 interchanges with entry and exit points spaced about 15–20 km apart, making it convenient for people to choose.
On the Quảng Ngãi - Hoài Nhơn project, except for the Đức Phổ interchange which has not yet been completed, the remaining five interchanges include: Km 1051+594 interchange, the interchange with provincial road 624B, the National Highway 24 interchange, the Sa Huỳnh interchange, and the Hoài Nhơn interchange, which continues to the end of the route and connects to the Hoài Nhơn - Quy Nhơn expressway. All these interchanges connect directly to provincial roads and national highways, providing convenient access to National Highway 1.
Among them, the interchanges expected to have high traffic volumes include: the starting interchange through Nghĩa Giang commune and the Sa Huỳnh interchange. These are the two main connections to the center of Quảng Ngãi province and the center of Đức Phổ ward, as well as coastal tourist areas.
On the Hoài Nhơn - Quy Nhơn project and part of the Quy Nhơn - Chí Thạnh project, with a total length of nearly 100 km passing through Gia Lai province, extending from the North–South expressway adjacent to Quảng Ngãi to the Cù Mông tunnel, there are 7 interchanges for vehicles to enter and exit.
Specifically, vehicles traveling North–South through Gia Lai will pass the ĐT 629 interchange in Ân Hảo commune. From here, vehicles can go to Bồng Sơn ward, An Lão... Next is the ĐT 631 interchange in Phù Mỹ Tây commune, where vehicles heading to northern and eastern Phù Mỹ areas and communes in the former Hoài Ân district can exit.
Next are interchanges such as ĐT 634 in Hòa Hội commune, allowing access to communes in the former Phù Cát district and Phù Mỹ Nam commune. Vehicles traveling about 20 km further will reach the National Highway 19B interchange in Bình Hiệp commune. This is an important interchange for access to Phù Cát Airport, communes in the former Tây Sơn district, and westward routes to localities in the former Gia Lai province.
At the National Highway 19 interchange in An Nhơn Nam ward, vehicles can travel to localities such as An Nhơn, Tây Sơn, Quy Nhơn in eastern Gia Lai and to Vĩnh Thạnh and Pleiku in western Gia Lai.
At the National Highway 19C interchange in Tuy Phước Tây commune, vehicles exiting the expressway can travel to Tuy Phước, Vân Canh, and Quy Nhơn.
For the first 20 km of the Quy Nhơn - Chí Thạnh expressway, vehicles continue to the north of the Cù Mông tunnel and then exit to National Highway 1 at this interchange through Quy Nhơn Tây ward to enter the Cù Mông tunnel on National Highway 1 and continue southward.
Vehicles should note that the remaining section of the Quy Nhơn - Chí Thạnh expressway has not yet been completed and is not fully operational, so it is not yet possible to travel to Đắk Lắk via the expressway. Vehicles must exit at an interchange to merge onto National Highway 1 and continue the journey.
With nearly 200 km of the North–South expressway through Quảng Ngãi and Gia Lai now in operation and connected to the Đà Nẵng - Quảng Ngãi expressway, travel during the upcoming April 30–May 1 holiday will be much more convenient.
Previously, vehicles traveling North–South on the Đà Nẵng - Quảng Ngãi expressway had to merge onto National Highway 1 at the end of the route. From noon on April 29, when the Quảng Ngãi - Hoài Nhơn expressway officially opens, drivers no longer need to detour onto National Highway 1 but can continue across Quảng Ngãi province on the expressway, then proceed onto the Hoài Nhơn - Quy Nhơn expressway and an additional 20 km of the Quy Nhơn - Chí Thạnh expressway to the north of the Cù Mông tunnel in Gia Lai province.
With this route, drivers will reduce travel distance by nearly 30 km, increase driving speed, and shorten travel time from 5 hours to about 3 hours compared to traveling on National Highway 1. In addition, the expressway will help reduce congestion during holidays and improve traffic safety.
The Quảng Ngãi - Hoài Nhơn expressway is 88 km long, starting at Km0 in Nghĩa Giang commune and ending at an intersection with provincial road 679 in Gia Lai province. The project has a total investment of over VND 21.4 trillion and is managed by Project Management Unit 2.
The Hoài Nhơn - Quy Nhơn expressway is 70.1 km long, passing through Gia Lai province, with a total investment of VND 12.401 trillion, managed by Project Management Unit 85.
The Quy Nhơn - Chí Thạnh expressway has a total length of 61.7 km (excluding the 5.1 km section through the Cù Mông tunnel). Of this, about 19.6 km passes through Gia Lai province and about 42.1 km through Đắk Lắk province. The project has a total investment of over VND 14.8 trillion and is managed by Project Management Unit 85 (Ministry of Construction).
